This
week I implemented my first steps of the action plan, for example, for this week
to the end of the school year, Wednesday is going to be a one and one teacher
student time day, and the students that need more practice of what has being
studied in the week are going to have an approximate of 10 to 15 minutes with
me to clarify doubts and practice different language skills, this Wednesday I
had time to practice with 5 students, and in my opinion it was very successful,
for example this week we were practicing present continiuous, several students
weren´t able to complete the tasks they were asked for, and after having a one
on one T-S they were able to complete the activities, so it was clear that this
time was very useful for the students.
Friday
was the first learn while playing day and we play¨ Simon Says¨, it was good
although I realize that even if it is a game day the lesson plan have to be
planed very carefully if not, it could end up being just about playing and not
too much about learning, I realize that the children get in playing mood and it
is harder to control the group, for next Friday I´m going to look for games with
more clearer learning goals.
Overall
it was a good week, I´m getting to know the students better, and more important
I´m getting more comfortable being a ¨teacher¨, I feel more confident doing the
weekly lesson plan and I confront the outcomes with more security.
It's great to hear how positively things are going now that you've started to implement your action plan - even if you've already identified some areas that need to be developed. This shows that you are reflecting on everything that's happening in the classroom.
ResponderEliminarDo you have any books or other sources about using games in the classroom? The webpage below has some ideas, if you're feeling the need for inspiration:

Keep up the good work!
Hi Montse,
ResponderEliminarI think that when students play games, they don’t realize that they are learning language. They are young learners so, what really matters it is to learn and have fun because they are in an elementary school.
This is a game that you may find interesting. I hope it works in your classroom. This game could be used after learning classroom vocabulary.
In the game “Please, Mr Crocodile”, one student is the crocodile and the other students are trying to cross the river. The students say “please, Mr/Mrs crocodile may we cross the river?”. The crocodile replies “you must cross the river if you have a pen, book, glasses, a brother, ponytail, etc”. Children with the right objects or things can walk across safely. The rest then try to cross and the crocodile tries to catch them. The crocodile can choose any category. So, it is perfect after learning new vocabulary.
Greetings :)
Hi Montse,
ResponderEliminarI consider teaching with games it's fun and mostly successful. I like to hear when a little child claims: "today we did nothing just play".
Thanks to Sara for the game she commented, and thanks to Daisy for the link, too. They'll help all.
Keep going,
Edna :)
